It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Burns, a longtime employee of the Fresno Westside Mosquito Abatement District and a stalwart of our operations team. Richard worked for the district for 22 years, and had previously worked for the Consolidated Mosquito Abatement District and the Merced County Mosquito Abatement District. Richard approached his duties with a consistency and a dedication to detail much needed in the ever-changing field of public health vector control. Outside of work, Richard was an accomplished amateur radio operator, sport shooter, and hunter, active in his hobby communities and church. All of us at the district appreciate Richard’s many years of service to our program and our community. He will be greatly missed.
